Why are some fragrances stronger than others?Updated 14 days ago

The fragrance style and how the perfumer crafts the scent, particularly the aromatic compounds incorporated and their intensity, can all have an impact on how we experience fragrances. Our emotions, degree of awareness, and the setting in which we perceive them all influence how we interpret a fragrance.

A fragrance that we smell around 9am may be perceived differently between 12pm and 3pm when our body's circadian cycle is most drowsy. As our body's circadian rhythm and senses slow down, we typically want coffee and sugar for a pick-me-up during this time. For this reason, perfumers will always assess fragrances before lunchtime.

Some fragrances work like a mist, slowly dissipating in an area and lingering; they are generally more powdered, feminine scents with musk or light sweet notes; they serve as a charming, elegant backdrop. Other perfumes contain concentrated levels of powerful, energetic fragrance notes, but these effervescent aromas are alive and extroverted, demanding your attention; fragrances with caramel, citrus, and tropical fruity notes belong to this family.

We suggest holding the sample at arm's length and gradually bringing it up to your face. You may enjoy the sample from that distance after you feel the fragrance has reached the desired intensity. Your scenting experience is entirely bespoke, so we have ensured to offer the same experience with our samples.
