How do I care for my candle?Updated a month ago

Candle Safety Instructions
1. Trimming the Wick
Always trim the wick to approximately 5mm before each burn. This prevents excessive smoke, soot, and uneven burning, which can affect the scent throw and candle performance.
Use a wick trimmer or small scissors to keep the wick at the appropriate length. A long wick can cause the flame to become too large, which increases the risk of soot and overheating the candle.
2. Avoid Burning for Long Periods
Never burn your candle for more than 3-4 hours at a time. Extended burning can cause the glass container to overheat, increasing the risk of cracks or breakage.
After 4 hours, allow the candle to cool and harden before relighting. This helps to maintain an even melt pool and prevents tunneling (where the wax burns only in the center).
3. Proper Candle Placement
Always place your candle on a heat-resistant surface to avoid damaging the underlying furniture or surface.
Keep the candle away from drafts, vents, fans, or air conditioners, as moving air can cause the flame to flicker unevenly, leading to uneven burning or soot formation.
Never place the candle near flammable objects like curtains, books, or paper, and always keep it out of reach of children and pets.
4. Extinguishing the Flame
Extinguish the candle using a candle snuffer or by gently blowing out the flame. Avoid using water to put out the flame, as this can cause the hot wax to splatter.
To prevent smoking after extinguishing, ensure the wick is upright and centered before the wax cools. This prepares it for a cleaner relight next time.
5. General Safety Tips
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always extinguish the candle when leaving the room, and ensure it is completely out before leaving the house or going to bed.
Ensure the wax pool is free of debris, such as matchsticks or wick trimmings, to avoid potential fire hazards.
If the candle starts to burn unevenly, extinguish it and use a spoon to adjust the wax so that it melts more evenly on the next burn.
6. Candle Storage
Store candles in a cool, dark place. Direct sunlight or heat can cause candles to soften or lose their fragrance over time.
Make sure the lid is securely fastened (if applicable) to preserve the scent.
7. Handling Hot Candles
Do not move a candle while it’s lit or while the wax is still hot. Wait until the candle has cooled completely and the wax has hardened before relocating it.
Be mindful of the glass container, as it can get extremely hot. Use caution when handling candles immediately after they’ve been extinguished.
8. Disposing of a Candle
Stop using the candle when about 1cm of wax remains at the bottom to avoid overheating the container, which may cause it to crack or shatter.
Reuse or recycle the container according to local recycling guidelines once the candle has fully burned down and cooled.
By following these safety instructions, you’ll ensure a longer-lasting and safer burning experience with your candles.
