Are the candle wicks pure cotton and why do they occasionally result in a mushroom effect?Updated 18 days ago
We only use pure cotton wicks which are free of heavy metals such as lead and are made from all-natural, cotton fibres to ensure a clean burn. The aim is to keep your wick trimmed and still as a direct draft will cause it to smoke unnecessarily.
If you’ve ever experienced a mushroom effect on the end of your wick after burning then this is a result of the wick absorbing more wax than it can burn and often happens when the wick is too large. To prevent mushrooming, simply trim your wick prior to every burn (5-6mm). We find the best practice is to pull off the top of the wick where it naturally breaks (when the wick is cold of course).
